Can you spot my idols? There’s Arren Williams on the left and Michael Penney on the right. I was a tad star struck!
So, not only does the One of a Kind Show feature unique artisans (that Christine, Jennifer and Emma so eloquently wrote about), they have also added a few show features that are sure to intrigue some new visitors and get OOAK fans really excited.
As the image above suggests, the theme of OOAK this year is “Love the Artisans”. To celebrate the theme, they asked the exhibitors to interpret the theme of “love” in their own medium. All of the submissions are placed in the center of the show in an incredibly cute display. You can vote for you favourite submission and the artist gets a cash prize!
Next up for show features is the One of a Kind Studios. They have recreated the studios of four special artisans around the show where daily demonstrations will take place according to the artist’s medium – clay, wood, textile, glass and more. I don’t have a picture of the studios because they weren’t up and running when I was there in the morning, but you better believe that I will be spending some time there when I visit again next Friday.
One of a Kind has also organized some really fun seminars revolved around holiday decor.
Friday November 26th, 1:30pm at the Main Stage (sorry, this one already happened – did anyone go?)
Friday December 3rd, 6:30pm at the main stage (I’m going back on this day, so I’m going to hit this up!)
Sunday December 5th, 12:00pm at the main stage
I know a lot of you have already attended OOAK. Did you check out the features. What were your favourites?

Can I just point out that it freaks me out every time I see Janette Ewan because she looks SO MUCH like Faith Hill?! What a gorgeous woman.
I would've loved to attend all the seminars... can someone fill me in on how they were?
Thanks for the intro to the peeps behind the OOAKS seminars, Shannon. Great post.

Wish I had time to attend the seminars too!
If you go to any please fill us in!
Wish I could come back to TO for the show - it look s HUGE! Way bigger than the Christmas craft shows here in Ottawa.
The LOVE displays are cool, especially the second one with the huge letters.
Have fun when you go back to the show!

super cute!
you are quite the socialite, looks like fun!
It was a great show this year - definitely warrants two visits! Didn't have time to attend the seminar last Friday but I love Michael Penney too.
Another great recap Shannon! I would have loved to have gone back for the seminars and thanks so much for the mention:) xo
I just got my post up this morning as well! :) It really was a great show and I had a great time there yesterday!
I thought the show was great--so much to process! The Love competition was really fun.
i'm looking forward to going back this week to pick up a few things i din't have a chance to buy on thursday. thanks again for setting this up. had a great time! and thanks for the mention. i hope lots of torontoians go and support our local artisans!
Great recap Shannon. Thanks again for getting us invited! And you should have told me Arren was one of your idols. He's a friend and I could have introduced you. Margot Austin on the other hand (see her beside Arren), is one of my idols but I find her intimidating and still couldn't go and introduce myself so I know how you feel.
Hey Shannon,
Thanks for this OOAK reminder recap. I just got back from celebrating American Thanksgiving, and I'm hoping to get to the show one evening this week. Maybe I'll run into you Friday!
~Pam
