I was so pumped when my friend Robin asked me to transform her dresser - my first commissioned piece of furniture! She was moving into a new apartment and wanted to jazz up what she already had and make it a really cute space. She has had this dresser since she was a baby, so there was a slight sentimental attachment to it, which made me a little nervous, but I think it turned out amazingly!!!
Robin picked the colour and then basically gave me carte blanche for the rest of it ! I originally wanted to get new knobs from Anthropologie to replace the old pulls, but I'm soooooooo glad we went with the old ones. I just spruced them up with a coat of cream-coloured spray paint and they look amazing. Robin just really wanted me to paint the dresser, but I thought it needed something else. So, with her permission, I bought this fabulous paper at The Paper Place and glued it on the top. I wanted the top to be protected and had seen this look before, so I got a piece of glass cut and it fit perfectly! The glass store had these little plastic "buttons" that go in between the dresser and glass, that makes the glass stay put. They are a wonderful little invention!
I can't believe how much a transformation it is! And Robin really liked it! I can't wait to do my next piece!

Looks wonderful! Like something you'd see at a resort
Looks great!! Where did you buy the glass from?
Thanks ladies!
I actually bought the glass at a store in Markham called Pilkey Glass and Mirror. I have been there before for other projects. If you're looking for a place in the city, I just googled "Glass and Mirror stores, Toronto" and a bunch of options came up. Hopefully that helps!
Wow this turned out amazing and the paper and glass on top totally make the piece!
I LOVE the color you painted the dresser! And I love the how you painted the handles white. Lovely!
It's almost a lovely Robin's Egg blue, isn't it?! Perfect for your friend Robin!! The paper on top was a great idea... making it very original. Great job!!

Love the top, too fun and clever!!
Thanks so much for all the nice comments! Even though the colour did look like a Robin's Egg, it was actually called China Blue from Benjamin Moore, if anyone is interested.
OMG lovesss it!
